With fresh oil and new filters, we headed up to check out the Apple Valley Farm Motorcoach Resort. A resort with purchasable lots where you can build casitas. The resort is on the smaller side with only 47 lots built around a lake.
Even a nice grassy area to run Bear, although he felt obliged to jump in the lake one time!
The Apple Valley Farm Motorcoach Resort is part of a much larger development that has houses and rentals around Lake Lure. The entire developments had pools, golf, boating, pickleball, tennis, a spa, and miniature golf. Overall a very nice development. We weren’t able to take advantage of a lot of the amenities as it was raining on and off. We did get a chance to visit the restaurant and it was pretty good.
The Chimney Rock State Park was nearby, so we grabbed Bear and headed out for a hike.
Can you see where it got it name from?
We were able to hike up to the top with Bear and caught these great views:
Did you see the Devil’s head?
After hiking we stopped to eat in the big town of Chimney Rock. We found a nice little burger place called Riverwatch Bar and Grill that had great views.
On the drive home we stopped at the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge. It’s actually the old bridge that the locals have added flowers and plantings to create a beautiful walkway over the river:
Overall we had a great day of hiking and exploring the area. And it didn’t rain on us!
The following day we were leaving to head up north a bit and check out another motorcoach resort.
