Katrina and I drove separately from Columbia Falls to Polson as Bears’ frozen raw dog food did not arrive on time. I drove the Busse Bus and was thankful that I was following Stan as we decided to traverse along Flathead Lake on the more scenic side of the lake. That meant more twists and turns.
We arrived at the Polson Motorcoach Resort
and I set up the rig getting ready for Katrina to arrive and save the day with more dog food. Check out our site:
While waiting for Katrina, Stan and I headed into the town of Polson to have a burger at a cute little drive-through called Richwine’s Burgerville. We both expected a fantastic burger, but we both thought that they were so-so.
The Godfrey’s were gracious enough to cook dinner for all of us again. Chicken that was excellent! Great evening with friends! Dave and Diane Hamilton joined us as well. The Hamiltons are Newmar owners that we met at the Tampa RV Show and will see them again at the Hoots Rally next month. I brought out the Salty Caramel Whiskey that we got at the Ole Smoky distillery in Tennessee.
That might have been a mistake as we all stayed up way too late.
The next morning we got a later start than normal (probably due to visiting Tennessee the night before) but after we got somewhat recuperated we head out to Mission Mountain Winery to taste the local vintages.
Pretty good wines! I had one infused with Huckleberry and was nice and refreshing for a afternoon drink. I thought that the best part was the Huckleberry chocolate bar!
We tried to hit “The Shoe” for a pre-dinner drink on their deck but found out that they were closed on Mondays. Therefore, we packed up the vehicles and headed to Falling Waters restaurant at the Kwataqnuk Casino overlooking the lake.
Back at the Polson Motorcoach Resort we decided to grill out at our place. What a beautiful view!
Another great night of food and company.
The following day we rented a pontoon boat to tour Flathead Lake. Less housing here and more scenic landscapes:
Fun times with good friends:
Bear and Garrett became good friends:
But, Bear still loves his momma:
There was a small isle called Bird Island ablaze that we got up close to:
Look at the clearness of the lake:
Pretty awesome, isn’t it?
We decided to stop at “The Shoe” again for a drink overlooking the lake. We could stay for drinks and appetizers as they were full with dinner reservations for the evening.
Good apps, drinks and a very nice view!
The following day Busses, Browns and Hamiltons headed out to see the Kerr dam and waterfalls below them. This dam is the one that created Flathead Lake. We learned that the dam was actually built on an Indian reservation and currently not allowing visitors due to COVID. Therefore, we didn’t get to see the dam – but it was a good thing that we ventured out to the area as two calves had gotten outside the fence and were strolling down the road. Stan, being the good Texan that he is, decided that it was his good deed of the day to corral them calves and reunite them with their mommas.
After successfully working the fields, we thought that it would be a good idea to grab a bite to eat. We headed over to Fiesta En Jalisco for margaritas and entrees. The restaurant is located on the lake and had very nice views.
The Hamilton’s informed us that they had purchased a lot at the Polson Motorcoach Resort. We were all very happy for them (and to tell you the truth, a wee bit jealous) as the area is absolutely breathtaking! Best of luck to the Hamiltons! Hopefully, we will be able to visit them up there sometime in the future as Katrina and I really enjoyed Montana.
