The next motorcoach resorts on the docket was Thornton Creek, located on the Far East side of Punta Gorda. A resort where the builder that we like at Golden Palms has built a lot of casitas. So, we could kill to birds with one stone.
So Thornton Creek is almost sold out (only four lots left on the back line) that wasn’t too interesting for us. The resort is also pretty far away from the beach. When we asked people what beach they go to, the stated Englewood. So, you drive about 45 minutes to get to Myakka River Motorcoach Resort and then another 15 minutes to the same beach. Helped us rule out this place.
We did get to review a few plans for casita’s with Sand Springs Builders. I think that we found one that we liked, now just to solidify the lot and see if they can build in that community.
On the day that we arrived, they had a pickleball tournament with the awards and pot luck dinner to follow. We were invited to attend the dinner which was really good – everyone brought some food so that there was a smorgasbord.
A group of residents had created a band and they played throughout the evening.
We also caught up with some fellow Newmarians (?), Vince and Louise Wessling. I can’t tell you how nice it is knowing people wherever we go. Really gives one a sense of community.
The resort had a very nice area for Bear to play where he was able to meet some other doggie friends.
Kat and I headed into Punta Gorda and drove passed Janis and Steve’s house there. Very good looking house right on a canal. They currently had it rented so we couldn’t see the inside, but it was very nice from the outside. We went to The Fishermen’s Village area for dinner:
Secure in the knowledge that Thornton Creek was not the place for us to purchase, we moved on. But, before more searching, we ran up to WDW to visit with friends.
