When we woke up we found Sydney not doing so well. I’ve decided to create a separate blog on her – to follow shortly.
Had a nice slow drive up to Lakewood, WI and stayed at the Heaven’s Up North Campground which was situated a few miles from our friends, Kathy and Greg Jaroch’s lake house. We got all settled in to a beautiful, but difficult to park spot. Headed over to their house for a late dinner since it took us so long to set up. Made it there in time to see this view from their pier:
That’s Greg pondering life, I think. Not sure. Maybe he just saw a fish jump. Nah, I think he’s pondering life. I think.
It was nice spending some downtime with the Kathy and Greg, their daughters and son-in-laws, Mackenzie and Jonny, Kayla and Steve – and their daughter Ceci, and Natalie. Very nice family!
This being our first time to their lake house and first time with them on Independence Day, we did not know of their traditions. Apparently, Greg cooks something special and unique every year. Well, 2019 was a crawfish boil. Check out these pictures:
I’m not sure how many pounds of crawfish Greg thought we could each eat, but there was plenty left over. Greg ordered the crawfish from somewhere in Louisiana and purchase the amount they told him to. It was delish! Although, peeling crawfish can take some time and all you get is a little piece of meat. If we go back next year (provided we get invited) perhaps Greg could have cow boil?
Enjoyed the crawdads by the fire:
We had a lovely pontoon boat ride around the lake – we really enjoyed it!
Bear enjoyed his first boat ride. He loved watching the water go by. He also absolutely loved chasing the splashing waves on the pier:
He could chase them all day long or play with the Jaroch’s dogs:
That night there was a Venetian Boat Parade. Check out these boats:
On the final day of our R&R, we went for breakfast – delish bloody’s:
Then off to the candy store:
Isn’t that sweet? Off to the rig for the now-mandatory snapshot:
Full day. Final night:
We had a long drive so we got up early to head out. With the rain we almost got stuck pulling out. Tires buried in muck and couldn’t turn the steering wheel – had to head straight back and barely missed trees and a fence.
We made it, off to northern Michigan!
