What can I say?  This place is beautiful!  Unbelievable rock formations and colors!  Definitely a bucket list item for anyone who has not experienced the beauty yet.

We were able to take a few hikes just to get up close and live the gorgeous views!  The first hike was up to Chicken Point Overlook which was somewhat easy and Bear loved it!  We followed a path that the Jeep excursions take and mountain bikers and we were able to see both of them in action.

I know, I’m a goof in a couple of the photos!

The first night we were invited over to Gary Jones and Robert Hornbeck’s house for a lovely dinner.  Gary was the Vice President of Research and Development at BeautiControl when Kat worked there and now is in charge of New Product Development for TruAura and Kat has known him 30 years.  A home cooked meal was very much appreciated.  Robert’s mom was also visiting so we informed them of our adventures through tales and photos.  They loved our experiences, especially our encounter with the grizzlies.

It was great seeing their house, particularly all decked out of the Christmas!

The next morning we were lucky enough to hear my cousin, Steve Wilkens preach at his church in Cornville, AZ.  My father always stated that Steve could preach and that he was called into his true profession.  Well after hearing Steve, I couldn’t agree more with him.  Steve and his wife, Karen, were busy in the afternoon and told us that we should venture out to Jerome, a thriving mining town, turned ghost town, turned hippie hangout, turned quaint touristy artsy town.  We had to go and check it out and eat at the Haunted Hamburger:

Great burgers and spectacular views, we were a little disappointed that we didn’t see any ghosts – maybe next time.

We got another great hike in with Steve this time to Devil’s Bridge.  Wow, what a great hike and bridge and view:

After Kat, Bear and I walked onto Devil’s Bridge to get a picture I realized that Steve only offered to take the picture and that he did not journey onto the hair-raising bridge with shear drop offs on both sides to certain death.  I think that he has a been here before!  Anyways, thanks for taking the picture and bringing us to this gorgeous location.  Great hike!

Steve, Karen, Kat and I went to Dahl & Di Luca Italian restaurant for dinner.  Excellent food!

The next day we had lunch at Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill!  Great food and even better views:

The artwork was for sale inside the restaurant – it’s a good thing that we can’t fit anything else in the Busse Bus because the art was beautiful but the prices weren’t.

Continuing our journey with my cousins, we drove down to see their house in Cornville (I’m not sure why they call this town that as I didn’t see any fields of corn anywhere).  They have a beautiful house located a few miles from a couple of wineries that we just had to visit at least one (Oak Creek):

On our final night at the Rancho Sedona RV Park, we were lucky enough to preview the holiday projection lighting onto Snoopy Mountain.  It was really unbelievable and these pictures do not do it any justice whatsoever:

The projector was right outside the front of the Busse Bus.  This mountain is called Snoopy because it looks like snoopy lying down just outside of his dog house.  Hard to tell from these photos, but it really does.  I saw these types of projections on TV at such places as Notre Dame in Paris.  They really are quite unique and worth taking time to watch.
