I have been to San Francisco a few times and had really enjoyed the city.  Needless to say I was stoked to be going back for an extended visit.  Well, this visit didn’t actually live up to my anticipation.  Numerous events prohibited us from really enjoying the city.

Event one:  Pulled into Candlestick RV Park and had to maneuver the Busse Bus into a spot that was about eight inches wider then the coach.  Back and forth, back and forth until I finally got it into the space.  Thought I was going to need a large jar of Vaseline to get it to fit.  Lousy park.  No place for dogs, no place to park car, no place to sit outside.  I was going to take a picture of the place to show y’all but thought that it was so bad that it would break my camera phone!  Lots of people living there with their belongings scattered around their rig.  Also, this was by far the most expensive place we had stayed at – $109.00/night.  Must be nice being the only place in town!  Avoid at all costs!

Event two:  Unhooked the jeep at the RV park and loaded up the dogs to find a park to take them to.  Jeep started to make an awful noise – sounded like a bolt was loose inside the engine and rattling around – not good.  Had to get it into a Jeep dealer to check it out.  It apparently had the engine seize up and we are still awaiting getting it repaired.  We think it’s still under warranty since the jeep only had 29,000 miles and it is a 2016.  Had to rent a car.

Event three:  Got the dogs to a park to play.  Bear enjoyed playing with his new friend, a white German Shepherd, when he came up limp.  He tore off part of one of the nails on his rear left leg.  To the vet – poor Bear had to have his nail removed surgically which knocked him out and he had to wear the “cone of shame”.  Not a happy pup!

I can’t believe how dirty this city is!  Garbage everywhere we look – side of the streets and in the public parks.  Our RV neighbor who was working on the new tunnel to relieve congestion stated that there is human feces on some streets and that the city just hired three people to clean it up at $75,000 a person.  Don’t believe me?  There is a city map on the internet showing where.  Check it out!

Needless to say, San Francisco was not kind to us.

We did get a chance to run to fisherman’s wharf for dinner at the famous Franciscan Crab Restaurant.  I know, a bit touristy – but that’s what we are.  Cool, 50’s style restaurant with all the old photos hanging on the wall of past celebrities who had visited.  They wouldn’t take our picture and hang it!  Anyway, I ordered the whole Dungeness crab:

I can’t believe I ate the whole crab and sundae!  Yummy.

We had a wonderful dinner with Rodney and Michelle Brown, friends of ours from Illinois who recently moved to San Francisco.

They took us to a favorite restaurant of theirs, Firefly.  A place that Rodney’s new company took him to.  Excellent!

On our last night in San Francisco, we met up with Katrina’s cousins, Becky and Neil Robertson.  They were gracious enough to cook us dinner at their home.  Beautiful place that they recently rebuilt (we especially liked the wine cellar as we are wine experts now) and a wonderful dinner!  It is so nice to be taking this trip and meet up with friends and family that you don’t get to see very often.

Off to the Pass of the Oaks!  Me in the Busse Bus and Katrina in the rental car.  Sure hope we get the jeep back soon!  Driving separately in California is a pain!
