On the drive down and into Skagway we were able to make a couple of stops to take in the beautiful landscape:

These gorgeous views are breathtaking especially after living in suburbia and seeing the Illinois cornfields my entire life.  It’s a bit sad to know that this will be the last time that we entire Alaska (at least on this trip, who knows?).

After passing through border control without a hiccup, we had to descend for the next 11 miles to get into Skagway.  I’m sure glad that we have a diesel engine and let the engine braking do the work so that my brakes didn’t burn up.  Cruise ships in port – seems like a colder Caribbean destination with all the jewelry shops and trinkets for sale.  At least we found a good pub to grab a bite to eat.  Met up with Larry and Donna again for dinner.  It sure is nice to get to know people throughout our travels.  Who knows, maybe we will meet up with them again?
