Had a beautiful sunset upon our arrival into Anchorage overlooking the bay. We pulled into our “campground”, the Creekside Inn and RV Park which sits right on a major thoroughfare and it was loud. Not ideal, but we didn’t stay around the Busse Bus too much so it worked, plus the location was pretty good.
We ran out for a wonderful dinner at Orso in the downtown area.
We were all “Pretty in Pink”.
On March 27th, 1964 the second largest earthquake ever recorded hit Anchorage. It devastated the city as it rumbled for minutes, registered 9.2 on the ole richter, killed 139 people, and created a tsunami that ran up Shoup Bay 220 feet. 600 miles of fault line ruptured and the land moved up 60 feet. 50+ years later there is still evidence of this massive quake in a park that has been preserved. The buildings and roads have since been rebuilt.
