First stop: Cave of the Winds.  Natural cave discovered in 1881.  Multiple options for reviewing the actual cave: Lantern or discovery.  Since we didn’t want to crawl on our hands and knees through dirt and water (spelunking), we opted for the gentler discovery tour.  I guess we are getting old, but we weren’t disappointed.

The stalactites (hold tight to the ceiling) and the stalagmites (might trip on them on the ground) were beautiful and they had hidden the lighting well so that all you could see were the formations.

We also ran into our first bear sighting and were close enough to snap a picture.

Now I don’t recommend doing this with an actual real live bear!

Besides the natural cave, the Cave of the Winds has also built touristy attractions on the site.  Zip lines, rock climbing, and obstacle courses.  We didn’t try any of these as we were pressed for time to get to another natural wonder in the area.
