Since we didn’t know exactly when we leave leaving or how to book RV Parks, the crowded holiday weekend left us without a place to camp. So what do we do now? Call friends in Memphis and crash in their driveway for five days. Lane and Blair Billings were tremendous hosts – taking us to great restaurants, riding bikes, letting us use their bathroom / shower and showing us their town.
Katrina is getting more adventurous with trying new foods.
Memphis Mudbugs are crayfish or crawdaddies wonderfully boiled with Cajun spices. Taste good but a lot of work to get a tiny piece of meat. Had an interesting breakfast treat – biscuits covered in Nutella with bacon.
We were able to get out and hear some great music. A little duet at the stop for lunch on our bike ride and some rockers at night in mid-town.
We didn’t get the chance to walk with our feet ten off of Beale this trip.
Beautiful city. Graceland, Lorraine Motel, Beale Street, Bass Pro Shops Pyramid, BBQ, Blues, riverfront…we didn’t get to see near enough. One interesting site that we did get accomplished was to walk over the pedestrian bridge lit up at night. It’s an old railway bridge that they added a walkway to one side and then light it up at night.
Had a bit of relaxation on Memorial Day and taught the puppy the joys of water when it is very hot outside. Canberra, our 10 month old Austrailian Shepherd, slipped off the floatee and ended up learning to paddle to the shore. Probably where the term doggy paddle comes from. Billings have a beautiful salt water pool. Something that we will remember for our next house – if we ever leave the Busse Bus for stable ground.
Thank you Lane and Blair for a Memorial Day weekend to remember!
