On April 2nd, 2018 Matt Anderson proposed to our little girl, Ariana at her favorite vineyard in Napa – Medlock Ames. She said yes. Since he didn’t ask her on April Fool’s Day I know it was legit.
Now Matt and Ariana have known each other for about ten years through high school and church but didn’t necessarily hang in the same crowd. They would see each other when their college / work schedules would permit after graduating from Libertyville High School. But last year things changed. Matt started showing up at our house more frequently and he joined us for a Cubs game (I’m pretty sure that we won). Things progressed and they became an item, a couple, official, steady or whatever the kids call it these days.
On March 26th Matt asked Katrina and I if we were available for lunch and to please not let Ariana know that we were meeting. Brave man. We went to Nirvana a local wine bar with excellent food and after some small talk Matt got down to it. Being the smart-ass that I am I was prepared with all kinds of comebacks when he asked. But, he was so genuine and sincere in his expressing of his feelings for our daughter that all I could say was “you don’t need our permission, she’s a grown women”. He replied with “I want your blessing”. Smooth, really smooth.
We are delighted to have Matt join our family.
We knew that he was going to ask her when they were in Napa the following week and all we had to do was to keep our mouths shut for one week to everyone. Tall order, especially with the Drink the Bar Dry party forthcoming. But we did it!
Ariana Anderson or Ari Anderson. I need to get used to that.
Welcome Matt!
