I arrived home with the Busse Bus on March 28th and parked it in front of our house.  All we needed to do now was close on the house, have a estate sale, sell two cars, decide on what belongings to keep and store them, get updated driver’s licenses, outfit the Jeep Wrangler to be flat towed, pack the coach, and say our goodbyes.

The house closing was scheduled for April 27th, giving us just about one month to accomplish all the tasks.  Our earliest possible departure date was April 28th, but being realistic we shot for May 19th.  The closest campground to us didn’t open for the season until April 20th so we knew we would need to stay in the driveway for three weeks with the generator running to keep the lines from freezing.

Therefore, our first “campground” was 15 feet outside our front door.

The close proximity afforded us time to pack the coach and also get the two dogs acclimated to living inside the Busse Bus.  The generator runs on the same diesel fuel as the engine so we had to take the coach out twice to fill up the tank.  Amazing adventure that took about 1 1/2 hours each time to make the 3 mile round trip.  I let Katrina drive the first time as she had more prior experiences in maneuvering a big rig as she drove horse trailers in her past life.  The funniest event was when our dog, Canberra “Bear”, was watching out front as the coach began to move.  He couldn’t figure out why/how the new house was moving down the street.  I think we scared a couple of years off his life.
